Iván Candeo (Caracas, 1983)

He currently lives and works in Barcelona, Spain.

 

Since 2004 he has been part of an independent study group made up of artists from different generations. In 2008 he obtained the title of Professor, specializing in Plastic Arts at the Libertador Experimental Pedagogical University, Pedagogical Institute of Caracas. He studied in the Master of History and Theory of Plastic Arts at the Central University of Venezuela and in the Contemporary History Diploma at the Rómulo Betancourt Foundation.

 

He has also conducted studies in complementary sessions of “experimental cinema” in the Aula Xcèntric of the CCCB. In 2018 he received the Scholarship to study at the Laboratory of Contemporary Audiovisual Practices, LAV Master, Madrid.

In addition, he participated in the Lugar a Dudas Artistic Residency, directed by the artist Óscar Muñoz, in Cali, Colombia.

Candeo focuses and confronts the relationship between the image, movement and history, managing to identify a series of contradictions and paradoxes. Question that he does as an intermediary that “passes” the images through various aesthetic devices of the gaze.

 

He has participated in group shows in various spaces in Latin America, the United States, Canada and Europe.
