Fabra i Coats – Factory of Creació i Center d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona presents, within the 2019 edition of the LOOP Festival Barcelona, the exhibition One day I came across a meteorite, which includes the works of eight artists who use the cosmic space as a filter to represent human desires, life on Earth and knowledge. The exhibition will take place on Floor 1 of the Center d’Art between November 13, 2019 and January 19, 2020, and will open on Tuesday, November 12 at 7 p.m.

Works of different formats will be included by the artists Regina de Miguel, Irene Grau, Abel Jaramillo, Julia Llerena Iñesta, María Molina Peiró, Francisco Navarrete Sitja, Belén Rodríguez and Pedro Torres. All of them, reducing the apparent distance between the universe and everyday life. As if one day, walking down the street, we met a meteorite.

The exhibition will also feature three associated activities by artist Cris Blanco and curators and researchers Núria Gómez Gabriel and Alexandra Laudo. The first will be The Case for Letting the Stars Determine Who I Date (29/11 at 19h), an audiovisual reading by Núria Gómez Gabriel on the transformation of our emotional relationships after the Introduction of new technologies and artificial intelligence.

The second is How to observe a night sky (12/12 at 19h), a performative conference in which Alexandra Laudo puts astronomical phenomena and highlights in the history of astronomy – and, in particular, of which historically it was one of the most important astronomical observatories in Europe, the former Calton Hill Observatory in Edinburgh – with philosophical reflections on the night, darkness and our ways of seeing.

The third, finally, bears the title Science-fiction (14/01 at 19h). It is a performance by Cris Blanco that begins as an investigation based on scientific theories about the infinitely large and the infinitely small, and is proposed as an approach to science “by an unscientific mind.”

With the curator of Carolina Ciuti, this project is produced by LOOP Barcelona and Fabra i Coats – Factory of Creació i Center d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona.
