Cristina Mejías has been selected in the call for an artistic production residency at the Matadero Madrid Artist Residency Center in collaboration with ArtWorks. To carry out your residence in Porto; With the project “Wandering Apprentices”.

The jury was made up of Ane Rodriguez (Matadero Residences), José Miguel Pinto (ArtWorks) and Pilar Soler (Independent Commissioner).

This residence is part of the new “Mobility Program” that promotes the exchange and internationalization of artists and curators, with the collaboration of Acción Cultural Española, the Goethe-Institut Madrid, the Institut français de Madrid, the Czech Center of Madrid and the Embassy from Portugal in Spain.

This residence is planned to be a production residence where Cristina Mejías will be able to put into practice, from experimentation, work processes to carry out physical works through the use of different materials. This program, therefore, aims to experiment as a productive process from materials with an upcycling component, with the intention of guiding the sense of a more resistant practice, through which equitable access opportunities are promoted. to resources. The entire residence takes place in a center specialized in the production of works of art, therefore, the residents will live directly with other artists who will be in the production process, and will have the support of different technical specialists. Likewise, there will be curatorial accompaniment by No Entulho and a program of visits and contact with the artistic fabric of Porto.
